Frequently Asked Questions

Laser micro peels are great for improving skin texture and tone, it will also reduce fine lines and wrinkles. It takes off the top surface of the skin, which will leave you looking fresh and rejuvenated.

The laser peel can be fractioned or full field, it can be hot or cold and we can also choose various depths. This is great as we can tailor the laser peel for you.

This is done by an erbium laser, The Fotona Dynamis is the gold standard in lasers for ablative skin treatments.

The micro peel laser removes a percentage of the superficial skin, between 30 - 50 % in a fractionated pattern. This will result in a great improvement of superficial pigmentation, reduction in fine lines and wrinkles, smoother overall skin texture and a more even skin tone. Skin laxity is improved, leaving your skin feeling tighter.

The three key advantages of laser peels which include:

  1. Anti-aging – remove sunspots, reduce fine lines, and decrease wrinkles.
  2. Cosmetic – create a generally smoother and more even skin tone.
  3. Skin laxity – tone and smooth the appearance of sagging or creased skin.
During your laser peel treatment, you will be numbed with prescription grade numbing cream on the face. Eye shields will be placed over your eyes to protect your eyes form laser flashes.

You will feel a warm sensation as the laser beam touches the skin, with numbing cream applied this has very minimal pain.

The treatment will take between 15 - 45 minutes to perform. After the treatment your face will feel warm like sunburn but is not typically painful.

For best outcomes we recommend a treatment plan, so we can give you the maximum results in skin rejuvenation.

There may be some mild side effects following Fotona treatment sessions, but these should resolve themselves very quickly. According to Dr. Cope, “Some patients can develop skin irritation after a laser treatment. This is similar to an urticarial (hive-like) reaction. It causes increased swelling, redness, and itch to the treated areas. A high-dose antihistamine is recommended for these types of reactions, and it generally helps to calm them down.” If you experience severe side effects, pain, or any symptoms that do not improve within a week of your Fotona session, you should call our team as we may need to provide additional treatment.

Sun avoidance is critical in the first five days. You should not exercise and minimise contact with animals for the first three days.
