Scope of Practice & Practitioner Credentials – 2025

Published:

October 8, 2025

At Newcastle Cosmetic Doctor (NCD), all treatments are carried out by appropriately qualified and registered health practitioners. This ensures compliance with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra), the Medical Board of Australia, and other relevant regulators. 1 2 3

1. Practitioner Registration

All doctors, nurses, and allied health staff involved in cosmetic injectables or laser treatments hold current registration with their professional board. Registrations are publicly verifiable through the Ahpra Register of Practitioners. 1

Practitioners only perform procedures for which they are appropriately trained and credentialed, consistent with Ahpra’s standards of competence and scope of practice. Prescription-only medicines (such as botulinum toxin and dermal fillers) are prescribed by a registered medical practitioner following a mandatory consultation, in line with Medical Board of Australia guidance. 2 3

3. Ongoing Training and CPD

All clinicians undertake continuing professional development (CPD) annually, in accordance with Ahpra’s registration standards. Staff maintain competence in recognising and managing complications, consistent with NSW Health and ARC requirements. 2 4 5

4. Accountability and Oversight

The Health Care Complaints Commission (HCCC NSW) provides independent oversight of health practitioners and facilities. Patients may escalate concerns to the HCCC if not resolved internally. NCD maintains medical indemnity insurance as required under Australian law and Medical Board policy. Adverse events and complications are reported to the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) if related to medicines or devices. 6 3 7

5. Patient Reassurance

Patients are entitled to know the qualifications of the treating practitioner. On request, NCD will provide details of the practitioner’s professional registration, training, and CPD compliance.
